PC: the community hovers between 6 and 50 people online most days, with an average of 27 players being online close to peak times, while this on paper is enough to fill a few 2-3 lobbies, when you divide by mode and region, it’s likely there is one mostly full lobby per region at best. I knew reporting the players would do little good, as there is essentially “no one home”, with the developers having originally planned to close Darwin Project at the end of 2021, what few people that remain at Scavengers are no assigned to other projects, and reports of cheaters, hackers and general toxicity are unlikely to be addressed in a swift manner, if they are even addressed at all. Thankfully for the few dozen players who remain, Scavengers Studio did confirm that when the end is in sight, the player base would be notified in advance, giving them time to say goodbye to the game and one another.ĭarwin Project is unfortunately essentially dead on all platforms, lacking crossplay what few players that do remain are not able to play together, and finding matches in a timely manner, even at peak times, can prove difficult.Įven when matches can be found, the experience is rarely a good one I managed to find a lobby yesterday and was thrilled to be playing a game I love again, only to be double teamed in solos mode by two players who were openly teaming, sharing resources and generally being obnoxious. Originally Darwin Project was slated to be shut down entirely toward the end of 2020, but at the last moment was given a reprieve with 2 servers remaining online (EU and NA East) however, this reprieve came with the caveat that it could change at any time if the situation proved to be unviable for the struggling studio. Scavengers Studio have unfortunately moved on from Darwin Project, having been unable to successfully attract a sustainable community or secure the necessary funding to continue development. It’s a unique take on battle royale with a Show Director to influence the match and Spectator Interactions to create a one-of-a-kind game show. In Darwin Project, ten inmates must survive the elements, track each other, fight, craft tools, and use their social skills to be the last one standing.
